Sloan off to hot start at Palmetto Championship

Merritt’s Roger Sloan is in the hunt at the Palmetto Championship after a strong first round in South Carolina.
Sloan carded five birdies and one bogey through his opening 18 holes to sit at -4 (67), good for a seventh-place tie.
Sloan went out strong on the front-nine with three birdies in his first five holes before cooling off and playing 1-under the rest of the way.
The leader after round 1 is American Wes Roach at -7 (64)
Fellow Canadian Nick Taylor is at -3, while David Hearn and Michael Gligic are both +2.
Sloan will be teeing of for round two just after 6:00 am.
