MP Albas votes counter to Conservative majority on abortion bill

A private members bill sponsored by Cathay Wagantall, Conservative MP for Yorkton-Melville in Saskatchewan, surrounding abortion was voted on Wednesday in the House of Commons.
The bill aimed to ban doctors from performing an abortion based on the sex of a fetus.
The majority of Conservative MPs voted in favour of the bill, 81 in favour and 38 opposed.
Local Tory MP Dan Albas voted against the motion as did Conservative Leader Erin O`Toole.
All other MPs, except one, voted against the bill which was defeated 248-82. Former Conservative and now Independent MP Derek Sloan voted in favour.
