Another truck accident on Highway 5A

KAMLOOPS — Perhaps more fodder for those who want truck traffic halted on highway 5 A between Kamloops and Merritt.

The road was partially blocked last night when a semi rolled near Trapp Lake. No serious injuries, according to Kamloops Fire and Rescue Platoon Captain Mike Grant.

Residents along the route say there are too many truck accidents and trucks need to be banned from that route.

In April, the TNRD Board of Directors voted in favour of writing a letter in support of a call from local residents to ban commercial truck traffic along Highway 5A between Kamloops and Merritt. Ranchers and residents along that stretch are concerned for their safety, saying the road was never meant to handle a large volume of big trucks.
