Sloan drains 48-foot eagle to cap sizzling opening round

Merritt’s Roger Sloan has stormed out of the gate at the AT&T Byron Nelson.
Sloan fired a -6(66) in round one, including a length eagle on 18. Sitting at 4-under for the round Sloan reached the 18th green in 2-shots and proceeded to drain a 48-footer for eagle.
The finish puts Sloan in a tie for 14th place after the morning starters. The leaders are currently at -9.
Overall, Sloan carded five birdies, an eagle, and just a single bogey.
The Merrittonains needs a strong performace to move up the FedEx Cup rankings. Sloan enters the event on the outside of the playoffs looking in at 143. The top-125 enter the playoffs and secure tour cards for next season.
Fellow Canadians David Hearn and Michael Gligic are also in the field and tee off this afternoon.
