Murray Church project moving towards June completion
The Murray Church before being lost to arson in 2019
What was once the oldest building in the Nicola Valley is slowly being reborn out of the generosity of the community.
Earlier this year, the Murray Church project reached its fundraising goal, and construction at the site has been full steam ahead to rebuild the historic church.
“The construction is progressing well and on schedule,” began Richie Gage. “The siding is being installed as we speak, and the interior finishing is in progress. We’re planning to have completion into June.”
The Church Board is hoping to be able to celebrate the opening of the building this Summer but that will be COVID-19 dependent.
Gage also mentioned that more and more people have recently been stopping by the site as they drive by.
“We just want to again thank all the donors and contractors involved in this project. There was a lot of in-kind support that was so welcoming and helpful for our fundraising,” added Gage.
The original Murray Church was lost in an alleged case of arson in January 2019.
