Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls walk to take over Voght Street Saturday
Voght Street will be closed on Saturday from noon till 1:30 pm to allow for a walk to take place in support of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.
This is the second march to take place in the past few weeks in Merritt and organizer Danielle Jack is again expecting a solid turnout.
“I’m feeling a lot of support for this walk,” said Jack. “This time I expect more people to attend. The support is just rolling in from all over.”
Along with the march, Jack is bringing Butterflies in Spirit to perform.
“There a dance group of all ladies and they all have missing family members. So, they dance in honour of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. They have performed all over the world,” said Jack.
Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at Central Park at 11:30 am, the walk will start at noon.
Those in attendance are asked to follow COVID-19 safety protocols.
