Merrittonains indicate need for infrastructure improvements
Merritt citizens have indicated a need for tax dollars to be spent on infrastructure improvements around the City.
The City of Merritt conducted its annual budget survey in late February and the results show the public wants to see tax dollars spent on roads and infrastructure and downtown revitalization.
Participants were provided the option to allocate $1,000 in funding towards capital projects, ongoing programs, or strategic initiatives. A sliding scale was used for each category – in $100 increments from $0 to $1,000.
Airport expansion and parkland acquisition and development received the least support in the survey.
“We received input from 76 participants out of the 231 visitors to the site,” stated Director of Finance Wayne Anderson.
