This week Merritt was talking about front-line workers getting vaccinated, the reward for information in Ben Tyner’s disappearance being doubled, possible funding for the Merritt Centennials, and an increase in mischief to vehicle files for the RCMP.
BC speeding up vaccination rollout to front-line workers including teachers
Premier John Horgan has announced that 300,000 front-line workers are going to be vaccinated ahead of schedule.
Those prioritized will include first responders, grocery store workers and teachers. The vaccinations will begin in April and delivered using pharmacists, existing immunization clinics and mobile clinics.
Reward for information on Ben Tyner’s disappearance doubled by Merrittonian
Today (March 16), it was announced that John Liu, the owner of the Nicola Ranch will be matching that $15,000 increasing the total reward to $30,000.

Despite games returning, no fans will be allowed in the building and as a result teams will continue to lose money. Junior Hockey teams require gate revenue to survive, and the BC Liberals have been pushing the Government to step up with funding to support the teams.
Mounties report mischief to vehicles on the rise in Merritt
This past week the Merritt RCMP has seen a significant rise in mischief to vehicle files.
“Multiple personal vehicles parked on Quilchena and Coldwater were allegedly keyed over the past week,” reads the release. “A male suspect was arrested in connection to one of the incidents.”
