Merrittonains can begin dusting off their clubs and swings as Merritt Golf is set to open today (March 19).
As the weekend warriors attempt to find their game after a long winter, Merritt’s own PGA pro, who grew up circling the course, wakes up on the cut line at the Honda Classic.
Roger Sloan fired an opening round 1-over (71), 10 strokes behind the leader, but still in position to make the weekend cut.
Matt Jones is the round one leader by three shots after tying the course record at 9-under (61).
Sloan`s job of moving up the leaderboard begins early with a 6:15 am tee time.
Sloan is currently 130th in the FedEx Cup standings, the top 125 make the playoffs and secure tour cards for next season.
