Merritt man convicted for a string of vehicle thefts
A Merritt resident has been convicted following multiple vehicle thefts in the Bench area of town.
“On January 9, 2021, a rash of thefts from vehicles occurred in the Bench area of Merritt. Dyllon John Cazes was located and arrested for those thefts and other alleged offences,” reads the release.
Earlier this week, Cazes was convicted in a Kamloops courtroom.
“Mr. Cazes was convicted in Kamloops Court for theft under, possession of stolen property, possession of property for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of identity documents. He was credited 60 days in jail and given 12 months of Probation.”
Merritt man convicted for wielding an axe in a road rage incident
A Merritt man has been given probation after being convicted in an axe-wielding road rage accident in 2020.
“On January 14, 2020, Jarod Donald Charlton was involved in a road rage incident in Merritt where he wielded an axe. He was charged with assault with a weapon and assault,” reads the release.
“On February 22, 2021, Crown Counsel issued a stay of proceedings for assault with a weapon and Mr. Charlton was convicted of assault. He was credited 8 days in jail, given 12-months probation and a victim surcharge of $100.”
