Mayor Brown makes notice of motion to create scholarships

On Tuesday night, Mayor Linda Brown made a notice of motion to have Council consider the creation of two scholarships.

“That council direct staff to include two scholarships worth $2,000 for students graduating Merritt Secondary School and continuing on to post-secondary education in the 2021-2025 financial plan,” said Brown.

Mayor Brown mentioned that she was open to further discussion on the amount of each scholarship.

Per procedure, the motion will return to the next meeting for full debate and vote from the council.

The next meeting is scheduled for March 9, 2021.
