The Florentine confirms second COVID-19 case

The Florentine in Merritt has confirmed a second case of COVID-19 at their facility in a Facebook post to the community.

“As was indicated IHA carried out testing of residents and staff this week and did identify one additional positive who was a close contact with the first positive case,” reads the post.

“What is encouraging is the number of negative test results in both staff and residents from results thus far. MHO Carole Fenton has ordered a second testing regime which is scheduled for Feb 25, as a follow-up,” continued the post.

The Interior Health Authority declared an outbreak at the Merritt facility following a positive case on Feb. 18.
