Positive case of COVID-19 at Merritt Central Elementary
School District 58 Nicola-Similkameen is informing parents of a positive case of COVID-19 among the community at Merritt Central Elementary.
The exposure is stated to have occurred on February 8 and 9.
“A member of the Merritt Central Elementary community has tested positive for COVID-19. They are self-isolating at home with support from local public health teams,” reads the release from Superintendent Steve McNiven.
The Interior Health Authority will be taking care of the contract tracing for the case and contact anybody who needs to self-isolate.
The positive is the first case at Merritt Central and follows four positive cases at Merritt Secondary as well as single cases at Merritt Bench and Nicola-Canford.
The entire Merritt community has seen a recent spike in confirmed COVID-19 cases with the BC CDC reporting 94 positive cases in 2021.
