Merritt taking two resolutions to SILGA
The City of Merritt is taking a pair of resolutions to this years Southern Interior Local Government Association (SILGA) convention in the hopes of gaining support from other municipalities in the region.
The two resolutions that were approved by Council this week both revolve around snow clearing.
“It was observed that residents had experienced less than ideal snow clearing on Nicola Avenue, but that as an arterial highway the City did not have control over this, and that some residents were productively but illegally using All-Terrain Vehicles to clear snow from their neighbourhoods,” said Director of Corporate Services Greg Lowis.
The first resolution is to allow owners of ATVs to legally use them to assist with snow clearing.
The second is with regards to current snow clearing along Nicola Avenue.
City Council was happy to see the concerns of Merrittonians put forward in the resolutions and passed the motion 7-0.
