Slight growth in COVID-19 outbreak at RIH over the weekend
KAMLOOPS — The Royal Inland Hospital COVID-19 outbreak continues to grow over the weekend, with 102 total cases reported Sunday (Feb. 7).
As of Sunday, 36 patients and 66 staff members have tested positive for COVID-19. Interior Health states 51 of those cases are still considered active.
The deaths connected to this outbreak remains at one patient.
IH states that the outbreak is contained to unit 6 North, and RIH remains safe for the public to attend for appointments, or emergencies.
Elsewhere, a separate COVID-19 outbreak at Westsyde Care Residences group home now has 26 cases – and increase of two from Saturday. Interior Health says 14 residents have tested positive, and 12 staff. There are currently 25 active cases associated to the outbreak.
