Public health restrictions extended
Dr. Bonnie Henry has outlined the latest COVID-19 modeling for the province of BC, highlighting that while the epidemic curve is bending down, it’s not time to remove current restrictions on social gatherings.
The restrictions on gatherings, events, sporting activity, and more were first imposed back in November at the peak of the second wave.
Dr. Henry said she will continue to re-evaluate the restrictions on an ongoing basis. No end date was stated.
“Towards the end of this month, data will tell us if more action is required or if we can start to ease the restrictions we have in place. Through our shared efforts and as long as we stay on this path we can start planning for the return of activities at the end of this month,” said Henry.
As of Thursday, there is 4,447 active cases in the province and 257 people in hospital.
