RIH outbreak climbs to 79 total cases Sunday

KAMLOOPS — The COVID-19 outbreak at Royal Inland Hospital continues to see steady growth over the weekend – with three new cases identified Sunday (Jan. 31).
Interior Health (IH) says as of Sunday there are 28 patients and 51 staff who have tested positive for COVID-19. The outbreak between units 6 South and 6 North now has 79 total cases – 72 of which are considered active. According to IH data, the active case count has decreased by two from Saturday (Jan. 30).
The death toll connected to this outbreak remains at one patient.
