SD58 completes health and safety audit

School District 58 Nicola-Similkameen has confirmed five positive cases of COVID-19 since the resumption of classes post winter break. Both Merritt Secondary and Bench Elementary have confirmed cases of the virus within the school community.

In response to the cases, the school district contacted Interior Health and requested an audit of their health and safety protocols.

Upon completion, the auditor stated that “The audit review indicates that the school is adhering to the K-12 school setting requirements and has implemented strict cleaning and hygiene protocols.”

In the letter sent home to parents on Tuesday, Assistant Superintendent Jameel Aziz thanked the staff across the district for their ongoing commitment to health and safety.
