Police presence at home in Merritt, Southeast Crime Unit involved

A heavy police presence was on hand at a residence in Merritt on Friday (Feb. 20)

Staff Sgt. Josh Roda told Q101 news that there was an isolated incident and that front-line officers were called to 1990 Houston Street.

“We believe it was targeted,” wrote Roda.” There is nothing to suggest that the public is in any danger.”

Social media was flooded with reports at the time about gunshots being heard; however, Roda did not confirm those reports.

According to Sgt. Roda, the Southeast District Major Crimes, is now taking over the investigation.
