The Coquihalla Highway 5 South from Merritt to Hope has reopened to traffic.
The highway was closed overnight, Wednesday, as floodwaters and landslides cut off most major routes between the Lower Mainland and the Interior. At one point, all four major arteries (Highways 1, 3, 5, and 99) were closed either as a precaution or due to flooding or debris on the roadway.
Not all roads have reopened as of 7:00 p.m. (Thursday, Dec 11).
Drive BC reports that Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton remains closed due to debris on the road, while Highway 8 remains open for LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY.
Officials ask you to monitor road conditions before venturing out by going to DriveBC.ca and Q101.ca
