Poppy Campaign in full swing in Nicola Valley

The 2025 Royal Canadian Legion Poppy campaign is in full swing in the Nicola Valley.

Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 96 in Merritt, along with other volunteers, will be at various locations throughout the city helping distribute the symbol of Remembrance, honoring those who served our country during the course of conflict, and supporting those Armed Services personnel who still serve.

Every year, the Royal Canadian Legion conducts the Poppy Campaign, along with thousands of its members who volunteer from coast to coast to raise funds in support of Veterans and their families.

“We would like to thank all the Legion members and volunteers for being involved with the Poppy Campaign,” said Merritt Legion Branch 96 President Alphonse L’Abbe. “Without those men and women, the campaign would certainly be tough to carry out, so I thank them.”

Poppies can be purchased at various businesses and shops throughout the City, as well as on the weekends at Save On Foods, Walmart, and No Frills.

The Poppy Campaign wraps up on Tuesday, November 11, when Remembrance Day ceremonies commence in the Shulus and in Merritt.

In Shulus, the Nicola Valley First Nations Veterans presents its service beginning at 10:00 at the Shulus Cenotaph with a lunch to follow. In Merritt, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 96 will host its annual service of Remembrance at 11:00 a.m. with a lunch to follow at the Legion Hall on Quilchena Ave.
