Halloween Candy Alert Issued in Merritt

The City of Merritt is urging parents and guardians to check all Halloween candy after reports of a possible tampering incident involving a piece of chocolate containing a small sharp object.
At this time, one report has been received from a local resident citing that a nail was placed in the candy.
This resident has submitted this report to the local RCMP.
As a precaution, families are asked to:
* Inspect all treats carefully before allowing children to eat them.
* Discard any candy that is unwrapped, damaged, or appears to have been altered.
* Report any suspicious items to the RCMP non-emergency number.
