It was the Bryton Morrow and Justice Loewen show on Friday night as the 20-year-old forwards combined for ten scoring points as the Princeton Posse downed the Merritt Centennials 5-2 on Friday night at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena (NVMA).
At the end of the night, Morrow had four goals and one assist while Loewen had five assists.
The Posse ( 11-8-2-0-1) came into the game against Merritt second in the Bill Ohlhausen Division of the KIJHL, behind the Kelowna Chiefs. At the same time, the Cents (11-6-5-0-0) have dropped three of their last four games and slipped to fourth in the division behind Kelowna, Princeton, and Revelstoke.
The Posse and Centennials exchanged first-period goals with Morrow’s first of the night and ninth of the season, opening the scoring at 10:47; however, the Cents quickly tied it at 15:52 when Brayden Thurlow scored his first of the season to end the first period tied at one.
Bryton Morrow’s second goal of the game came on the power play at 43 seconds into the middle period, giving the Posse a 2-1 lead heading into the third period, where Morrow’s scoring exhibition was again on full display, scoring at 1:43 of the period, chipping in with an assist on Carson Hebert’s sixth of the season at 16:10 before Morrow’s fourth of the game at 18:37.
Centennials rookie Noah Lawless gave the 378 Cents fans on hand something to cheer about in the third period, scoring the team’s third short-handed marker of the season for his ninth goal in the KIJHL.
The Centennials finish the month of October with a 3-3 record.
