More than 1700 residents of Merritt and the surrounding area were without power for more than three hours on Thursday evening.
The outage was reported to B.C. Hydro and crews were dispatched to the area of the outage, believed to be South-East of Highway 8 and North-West of Highway 5A.
There was no official word on what caused the outage, although several social media reports say high winds knocked a tree onto power lines.
BC Hydro reports the outage occurred at approximately 4:56 p.m. Thursday and was restored by 7:30 p.m.
