BREAKING: ER at Merritt Hospital Closed Overnight

For the first time since March, the emergency room at the Nicola Valley Memorial Hospital will be closed overnight for those requiring medical service.

Interior Health announced on Wednesday, that from 6 p.m. October 15, to 7 a.m. on October 16, emergency services will be unavailable.

This marks the 12th closure of the hospital in Merritt in 2025, however the first since March, when the facility was closed no less than seven times during the month, prompting an outcry from local officials demanding better dialogue between Interior Health and the city.

The closure is for emergency services only, as other inpatient services will remain open.
