New Chief Elected for LNIB

Members of the Lower Nicola Indian Band have elected a new Chief.
On Saturday, Nicholas Peterson edged incumbent Chief Stuart Jackson by just five votes for the narrow victory.
Of the 499 ballots cast, Peterson garnered 251 votes with Jackson receiving 246 votes. There were also two spoiled ballots.
Meanwhile, 498 ballots were cast to elect new councilors as well Saturday.
Those elected include:
Robin Humphrey 266
Leona Antoine 206
Sue Sterling-Bur 205
Lesley Manuel 187
Yental Coutlee 170
William (Bill) Bose 169
There were also four spoiled ballots.
