Plane crash near Lillooet Airport kills one

One person has died in a plane crash near Lillooet.

RCMP say they were notified of the incident on Wednesday (Sept. 24) at 5:17 p.m., when a small plane crashed near the Lillooet Airport.

First responders rushed to the scene, finding the pilot and lone occupant of the Bushmaster Super 22 suffering from a serious injury.

The pilot was extracted, and life-saving efforts were made, but they were unsuccessful.

The Transportation Safety Board has announced it is sending a team of investigators to the site. The BC Coroners Service is also investigating.
