Merritt Secondary School has a new Principal to start the 2025-26 school year and it’s someone very familiar with the institution.
After serving the past three years as Vice Principal of Merritt Secondary School, David Andersen was announced has been promoted by the Nicola-Similkameen School District.
Andersen brings 15-years of secondary education and school leadership within the school district.
“It’s an honour to serve a school community I deeply care for,” said Andersen in a press release issued by the School District. ” I’m excited to continue working alongside our dedicated staff, students and staff.”
Andersen has contributed to several schoolwide and district-level initiatives that reflect his commitment to inclusive, student centered, education.
The press release also applauds Dave’s dedication to advancing Truth and Reconciliation by working closely with Indigenous students, families, and community members.
Merritt Secondary School’s 2025-26 school year begins on September 2nd, with a half-day schedule from 10:00 am. to 12:00 p.m.
