City of Merritt host a Water Meter Open House
Civic Centre - City of Merritt
Merritt residents wanting to learn more about proposed water meters in the city are invited to an Open House at the Merritt Civic Centre on Thursday.
Back in February, the City of Merritt initiated a universal water metering program.
BC’s Ministry of Municipal Affairs has authorized a $3,000,000 grant for the implementation of a universal water metering program for the City of Merritt. Many municipalities implement residential, industrial, commercial and institutional water metering as a method to encourage water conservation.
While the City currently has water metering in place for organizations and multi-unit complexes within the community, it has not been able to raise the funds to implement residential water metering for the larger residential community.
Residents concerned about the proposed water meters can join Merritt City Council, staff along with representatives from Neptune Technology who have been contracted to install or upgrade the water meter at every residential property in the municipality.
The open house is scheduled for Thursday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Merritt Civic Centre.
