The number of wildfires in the province continue to gradually grow.
The BC Wildfire (BCWS) service reporting that 7 of the 42 wildfire burning in the province this morning ( May 8 ) remain out of control while 31 are under control. The BCWS also reports that seven new fires have turned up in the last 24-hours.
Just three wildfires within the Kamloops Fire District and two of those are in the Spahomin Creek region near Merritt where a 51-hectare fire is currently under control while a smaller .4 hectare fire in the same vicinity is being held.
Dry conditions throughout the province and prevailing winds have BC Wildfire again asking those heading out this weekend to be safe with activities that include fires.
