UPDATE: Merritt RCMP dealing with incident on Clapperton Avenue

UPDATE: Merritt RCMP report the incident is now under control as of 2:30 p.m. While police officers remain at the scene of the incident, no one is being asked to restrict themselves from the area. Officials have not released any information regarding the nature of the incident.

MERRITT — RCMP in Merritt are responding to an unfolding incident at a residence on Clapperton Avenue.

Police say the situation began earlier Wednesday (Apr. 9) and remained active as of 1:30 p.m.

Mounties say there is no risk to the public but are asking people to stay away from the immediate area, including the Diamond Vale subdivision.

RCMP say they will provide more information at a later time.
