Merritt residents will have an opportunity to voice their concerns on a controversial introduced earlier this month.
The proposed legislation known as Bill 7, would allow the provincial government to take actions intended to support the provincial economy without first requiring debate in the B.C. legislature.
Fraser-Nicola MLA Tony Luck, will be hosting a โStop Bill 7โ Emergency Town Hall meeting this Saturday afternoon from 12:30-2 pm. at the Country Music Hall of Honor on Quilchena Ave. The public is invited to the event, learn about the legislation and sign a petition against the bill.
The legislation was deemed necessary by the governing NDP government as a way to soften the blow of impending tariffs British Columbia would incur if and when tariffs from the United States took place.
However many pundit disagree with the legislation saying that the bill is a step towards โautocratic ruleโ that would allow the Premier and cabinet untapped power that could go unchecked in the legislature.
