Merritt library receives funding for new roof

The Merritt Library will soon be getting a new roof for their facility thanks in part to the TNRD.

At its recent meeting on Thursday, it was announced that $90,000 would be split 50/50 between Electoral Areas “M” (Beautiful Nicola Valley-North) and Area “N” (Beautiful Nicola Valley South) with each district allocating $45,000 to the project.

The Merritt Library which is under the auspices of the Thompson-Nicola Regional Library, is located on Garcia Street and not only serves the city of Merritt and surrounding areas as a book sharing service.

The facility also serves as a meeting place with health and wellness classes,  education, lectures and more. The Thompson-Nicola Regional Library in total has 13 library branches and the mobile library service see over one million piece checked out every year.
