Fuel management burning begins Thursday near Lindley Creek
The BC Wildfire Service will be continuing to conduct a fuel management project located at the Lindley Creek Road area.
Back in November, BCWS said it was planning to burn about 50 piles of debris however according to a press release crews will be working to now burn approximately 20 piles starting as early as today, (weather permitting) through to the end of February. This project is taking place in conjunction with the Cascades Resource District for Wildfire Risk Reduction purposes.
Officials say pile burning will only happen if conditions “are favorable” and they remind residents that smoke from the burning piles may be visible to residents from the City of Merritt, and surrounding communities.
BC Wildfire Service personnel will carefully prepare, control, and monitor these piles at all times.
More to come…
