Merritt Fire responds to early morning fire at city business

Members of Merritt Fire Rescue were called to the scene of a motor vehicle fire at Mario’s Tow Yard compound early on Friday morning.
Merritt Fire Chief Dave Tomkinson told Q101 News that fifteen detachment members responded to a the compound at around 12:44 a.m. Tomkinson explained that the fire, originating from a towed vehicle that was damaged in an earlier accident, spread to a nearby car, heavily damaging both vehicles. He added that four additional vehicles sustained minor heat damage.
Tomkinson noted that the site was cleared at approximately 1:31 am and said the investigation confirms that the cause as electrical, linked to the earlier collision.
