Some residents of Lower Nicola say Wednesday’s power outage could have been avoided had B.C. Hydro take action sooner when locals contacted them about the tree that toppled onto a powerline leaving more than 1200 customers without power for several hours and forced the closure of businesses and schools in the area.
The tree knocked out the power just before 7:00 am. B.C. Hydro crews attended the scene and eventually got the power restored by early afternoon.
Multiple area residents took to social media expressing their anger with the outage saying the disruption could have been prevented if the Crown Corporation had of investigated the reports.
