Yellowhead Road and Bridge (YRB) is warning motorists that a significant snowfall is expected to hit the Coquihalla Summit today. The weather system began in some areas on Friday night with heavier accumulations throughout the day today, Dec 14.
Snowfall is expected to subside later this evening. YRB says warns that temperatures may fluctuate throughout the day resulting in slushy or compact conditions.
Driver can expect snowfall on
Highway 5 South from Merritt to the Snow Shed Hill – 10-15cm Saturday.
Highway 97C – Okanagan Connector – 1-3 cm Saturday.
Highway 5 North from Merritt to Lac Le Jeune – 1-3 cm Saturday.
Please slow down and drive to conditions. Plow trucks will be out removing snow and restoring traction as well as putting out chemicals to help prevent icy conditions.
