With the upcoming provincial election just a few weeks away, Merritt and area voters will have a chance to hear what the three candidates running for the vacated Fraser-Nicola riding have to say on key issues and concerns on October 2.
The Merritt and Area Chamber of Commerce will host a meet the candidates forum at the Country Music Hall of Honour on Quilchena Avenue.
The evening will feature candidates Francyn Joe of the B.C. New Democrats, Tony Luck of the Conservative Party and Jonah Timms of the Green Party taking questions from the crowd from 7:00 until 8:00 pm then from 8:00 until 9:00 audience members will have a chance to speak and engage with the candidates.
For the first time since 2014, the riding of Fraser-Nicola will have a new face representing them in the B.C. Legislature following the retirement of Jackie Tegart of the now defunct BC United (formerly the Liberal Party) earlier this month after leader Kevin Falcon suspended his parties involvement in the upcoming election and encouraged their party faithful to support John Rustad’s Conservative Party.
Again the Meet the Candidates Forum happens on Wednesday October. 2 at the Country Music Hall of Honour.
