Multi car incident causes major delays on the Coquihalla highway

Traffic is moving once again after a four vehicle incident on Highway 5 near the Helmer Road between Exit 290: Merritt and Exit 336:Walloper Exit south of the Surrey Lake Summit turnoff. 

Emergency services were on the scene shortly before 10 am. An air ambulance was also on scene to airlift on of the injured to hospital. 

Reports confirmed that a major hail storm and slick highways were present before the crash however it has not been determined if it was the cause of the accident. 

No reports of any fatalities at this time however multiple people were transported to nearby hospital.
