BREAKING NEWS: EMERGENCY ROOM WILL NOW BE OPEN IN MERRITT SUNDAY AUG 4

UPDATE: (4:25 p.m.)

Interior Health has secured a physician to work at the Nicola Valley Hospital for Sunday Aug. 4.

Early Sunday afternoon, the Health Authority reported that no physician would be available to over Sunday’s shift.

However at 4:25 p.m. Interior Health made the announcement that a physician was found.

Merritt and area residents will once again be forced to go to the Royal Inland Hospital on Sunday as the emergency department hours at the Nicola Valley Hospital and Health Centre have been changed due to limited physician availability.

Emergency services will be unavailable from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 4, 2024.

All other inpatient services will continue as normal at Nicola Valley Hospital.

This is the eleventh emergency room closure in 2024 and the first in the month of August after six closures in July.
