BREAKING: Out of control wildfire near Stumbles Lake
The B.C. Wildfire Service reporting a small out-of-control wildfire near Stumbles Creek, just a few km northwest of Merritt.
The 0.6 hectares blaze was discovered on Tuesday evening and the cause of the blaze is still undetermined.
Currently in the province there are 432 active wildfires burning in the province with 259 (60 percent) determined as out of control.
With last week’s very hot temperatures, wildfire activity also picked up in the Kamloops Fire Centre (KFC) . There are currently, 63 wildfires burning in the KFC with 46-reported-out-of-control.
The biggest wildfire in the region remains the Shetland Creek Wildfire which is still considered out of control while scorching nearly 20,000 hectares and evacuation hundreds from their homes while threatening more.
