Highway 1 from Cache Creek to Spences Bridge closed due to Shetland Creek wildfire

The Shetland Creek wildfire has closed the Trans Canada Highway from Cache Creek to Spences Bridge.
At around 5:30 p.m. Sunday (July 21), DriveBC announced that the stretch of Highway 1 was closed in both directions due to wildfire. A travel advisory had been in place since Friday.
A detour is in effect via the Coquihalla Highway from Merritt to Hope. Commercial drivers are reminded there’s no access for their vehicles on Highway 8 from Merritt to Spences Bridge.
Another update is not due until 12:00 p.m. Monday.
The Shetland Creek wildfire is measured at 14,831 hectares in size as of Sunday evening. Firefighters spent the day keeping the fire away from Ashcroft, Hat Creek Valley and Spences Bridge.
