The First Nations Health Authority has issued a Waterfront Health Advisory for the Nicola Lake after an algae bloom was discovered recently.
The presence of toxins from the cyanobacteria bloom can cause illness and injury to those exposed to it.
In a social media pot, the Upper Nicola Indian Band explained that due to a contamination event, it is recommended that people and pets do not come into contact with the waterfront or the water.
Q101 has asked for an interview with the First Nations Health Authority to explain the situation.
