Residents reminded to access libraries for relief from heat
Merritt Library | TNRD
The Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) Emergency Operations Centre and the Thompson-Nicola Regional Library (TNRL) are advising Merritt rea residents to visit their local library if they need access to a cooler public space during this current stretch of hotter-than-normal weather.
Community libraries in the Thompson-Nicola region are equipped with air conditioning and free Wi-Fi.
Meanwhile the City of Merritt encourages people to take precautions from the heat. Along with the Library, those who need relief from the sun can visit the Rotary Park Spray Park and the Nicola Valley Aquatic Centre.
City officials ask that you keep an eye on those most vulnerable during this heat wave. Seniors, those with chronic breathing issues or pain, those with mental disorders, children and pregnant people are all susceptible to heat related illness.
The TNRD Library is open seven-days-a-week from Tuesdays and Wednesdays 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, Thursday to Saturday 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and closed Monday and Tuesday.
