The 2024 NHL entry draft has come and gone. For some it meant a lifetime of hard work, sacrifice and determination has paid off while for others it means they will have to find another path to pursue their dreams of playing in the National Hockey League.
As is the case of Corbin Vaughn and his twin brother Jaxsin, the dreaded โBash Brothersโ from Lower Nicola.
The 18-year-old twin brothers suited up in the Western Hockey league (WHL) for the Regina Pats this past season. Corbin, a 6โ2โณ -188 pound defenseman, known as a heavy hitter with good defensive prowess, was ranked 155 by NHL Central Scouting of North American players.
Twin Jaxsin, is described as a physical forward and heavy hitter. The versatile forward who can play either right wing or center was ranked 150 overall among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting.
Unfortunately for both, neither were selected in this years entry draft held Friday and Saturday in Las Vegas.
However, it was not all bad news for the Vaughn brothers. On Sunday it was announced that Corbin was invited to the 2024 Los Angeles Kings Development Camp.
The Kings finished third in the Pacific Division, which earned them a first round matchup with the Edmonton Oilers which ended with L.A. getting eliminated in five games.
While the Kings have lots of talent up front, the defensive corps needs some toughness, which makes Corbin Vaughn a perfect fit. It should be noted that because you get invited to a developmental camp, you are not guaranteed a contract with the invitee.
As for Jaxsin, he still has two years of WHL with the Regina Rebels. After a solid 2023-24 campaign where he popped 15 goals and 10 assists in 59 games, however he amassed 82 penalty minutes.
