Weekend cold front breaks ten year old Merritt temperature record

If you thought it was colder than usual on Fathers Day, you were absolutely right.
According to Environment Canada, the cool airmass that remains over the region was responsible for several low temperature records being broken on Sunday including ere in Merritt.
The weather agency figures show the mercury in the Merritt area reached just 11.5 C on Sunday, breaking the 13-degree record set ten-years ago in 2014.
In Kelowna it went back more than a century as the high temperature of 13.3 C was lower than the last record of 15 C set in 1906.
Records also fell ,Summerland, Kamloops, Trail, Bella Bella, Penticton and Princeton.
The temperature is expected to warm considerable for the remainder of the week. Beginning Wednesday, temperatures range form 25 C to 30 C on Friday and Saturday.
