Fairy tales come alive in Love to Dance year-end recital
Witches, evil queens, cowardly lions and even Snow White were all on hand at the Merritt Civic Centre on Sunday as Love to Dance Academy ( LTD) hosted their first of what they hope will be many year-end recitals.
“Once Upon A Time” was written and directed by artistic directors Kia Henriksen and Renee Bauwens and featured performances from youngsters ranging in age from three to 18-years-of-age.
Henriksen said it was wonderful to see a packed house for both performances.
“It was wonderful to see so many people come out to both performances,” said Henriksen.
Holding a year-end performance was something that Henriksen has wanted to do for a while, giving every student a chance to get in front of a live audience.
“We have had a lot of new students join us since our Christmas recital, so we wanted to give them a chance to perform on stage,” she added. “Plus it also gave us a chance to do some fundraising which is crucial for our organization.
The funds raised will help with keeping the studio operational during the slower summer months.
During the performance a touching video tribute honoring Megan Voight was shown. Megan will be graduating this month and pursuing other paths in the future.
