Wildfire Near Spences Bridge “Being Held”: BCWS
The wildfire discovered on Friday afternoon near Spences Bridge is reported as “being held”.
The B-C Wildfire Service (BCWS) reports that the wildfire just north of Spences Bridge, near Drinkwater Road, on the east side of the Thompson River.
As of this morning, the blaze remains at 51 hectares. While the wildfire is being investigated, the cause is believed to be human activity.
Meanwhile residents of Fort Nelson and the Fort Nelson First Nations are returning home today.
The Northern Rockies Regional Municapality and the nearby First Nations community rescinded the evacuation orders this morning (Monday May 27) at 8 a.m. however an evacuation alert remains in place as the Parker Lake and the Petry Creek wildfire are still burning out of control.
