Fire Sends Two to Hospital; Woman Charged

A woman who was charged with arson causing bodily harm remains in custody after a structure fire that seriously injured two people in Merritt.

Merritt RCMP say officers responded to the 1900-block of Houston Street at around 5:00 a.m. Monday after receiving a report of a structure fire.

Police say the Merritt Fire Department and Emergency Health Services were on scene treating two victims who suffered significant injuries from the fire. Both were stabilized and remain in hospital.

Lynn Johnny was arrested at the scene. She’s set to appear in court virtually on Friday for a bail hearing.
