Man Arrested for Uttering Threats near MSS

Merritt RCMP continuing their investigation into an incident that occurred this afternoon near the Merritt Secondary School.

Sgt Brock Hedrick told Q101 News that at approximately 2 p.m., they recieved a complaint of a man uttering threats with a gun.

Hedrick reported that members of the RCMP rushed to the scene and took a man into custody.

The suspect is in his early 20’s and known to police. Hedrick said that the RCMP are recommending charges of uttering threats and will make a court appearane at a later date.

There was no word if the individual in fact had a weapon. RCMP Canine Unit was on the scene this afternoon as well.
